Vicki's ZenZone #4a "Composition" Lilies Watercolor

I want to share with you a process I worked with until I could explain it! Part Old Masters, Part Grecian Architects, Part simple Tic-Tac-Toe!

I go through this process most every time I paint…especially if on a panel or stretched canvas. If I am working on a piece of canvas taped bo a board, I make sure I leave 4” or so for cropping. ps: I still do the composition design so I’ll know where to crop.

I use a series of “layers” I can use in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, or any freeware that allows layers. These layers are the same as a physical piece of acetate with black grid lines printed on them. Those are so restrictive because you can’t have them in any size you want to paint on. These “Layers” are in the FREE downloadable pack

In addition, I am including several images of my gorgeous yellow lilies for you to use in planning your own composition. Or you can use mine…I like it so much I am painting it in different mediums. shhh…don’t tell, but it is ZenZone #5.

xoxo,
