Axully

Axully Vicki Ross Art is a phonetic spelling of Actually. I use it often and, of course, it is my accent. Leave 'em laughing!

Hey Ya'll! I'm back with another full process video using Canvas Corp Brands items. I'm currently in love with this alcohol technique!

Stretched Natural Canvas 4 x 4
Mixed Media Origins - Flight
Mixed Media Origins - Wings
High Impact Paint - Light Blue, Hot Pink, Purple, Rose Gold, White
Dap Spackling Paste
Staz-On Black Ink Pad
Various stencils and stamps
White Gesso
91% Isopropyl Alcohol

My full process video shows the reality, fun and hijinks in my studio as it happens! I appreciate all the likes and shares!

Step One: Coat both canvases with white gesso, using credit card or palette knife for the texture. Do the sides as well.

Step Two: Spray each canvas generously with water. With the High Impact Paint, paint a loose coat on top, making sure to get some drippys on the sides. Move quickly because the next step works best when there is plenty of water.

Step Three: I used a pipette, but you can use a brush or eye dropper to drop pure alcohol into the wet paint. Do as many dropa as you like. DRY EACH LAYER before you go on to another color. The alcohol will push the water away in each layer, which lets the first layers "play through".

Step Four: I used Dap Spackling paste on mine because some artists modeling paste has a plastic feel. BUT, use what you have! Tint the modeling paste with a bit of the High Impact Paint. I used Rose Gold. Allow this to dry and cure.

Step Five: A black Staz-On Ink Pad was used here, but any PERMANENT ink pad will work. Apply a few random stamps. The grungy result is because of all the texture. This is exactly what you want!

Step Six: Choose an element from Origins Paper that fits the scale of your canvas. Fussy cut the image, and adhere to your canvas.

Step Seven: ENJOY! Yes, I could have continued adding layers, but Christine whispered in my ear to STOP!  As William Merritt Chase is to have said:
