The good thing is, when I've been painting on these 'smalls' I have been in experiment mode. NOT in teaching, documenting mode. I have over 60 completed, and am reconstructing what I remember about them because some of you have said you really like the process notes.

Background was taken from a watercolor, brushed with gesso/pumice mixture, then pastels scumbled on top.

I really did start with the same shapes with this one. Using dryer lint and gel medium, I created a texture that I just barely covered with soft pastel.

RED! and the size and shapes are about all I kept here...not a tree in sight!
